How can you help?

We need to make the most of the money we do have. Here's how you can help.

Read our Icon for pdf Council budget 2018/19 leaflet (PDF, 314.5kb) which outlines the challenges and choices facing us to set the budget for 2018/19.

How you as an individual or household can help?

  • Go online to request services. It's available 24/7 without you having to leave the house.
  • Recycle more and make sure you put the right stuff in the right bins. Find out about what goes in which bin.
  • Help look after your neighbourhood - clean up after your dog and don't drop litter.
  • Shop locally to support local traders and their employees.
  • Look after your health - be more active.
  • Be a good neighbour - check on elderly neighbours.
  • Volunteer - offer your skills or time to help the community run clubs, sports and community facilities.

How your community organisations can help?

  • Community groups can take over the running of local facilities.
  • Organisations can run council services such as activities for local groups.

How your business can help?

We have more information on the types of support businesses can provide that would make a big difference to local communities. For example:

  • Increasing the knowledge and skills of the local workforce.
  • Volunteering to support such things as management committees or local schools.
  • Take up of sponsorship opportunities.
  • Providing products and services.
  • Taking part in or organising fund raising activities.
