Join the 2017 Best Bar None scheme


You have until 24 February 2017 to apply to join our Best Bar None Scheme. Find out more about the scheme.

To apply, download and complete Icon for pdf 2017 Best Bar None Scheme application form (PDF, 128.3kb) and return it to the address included on the form, along with a cheque for £30.00.

What happens once you've applied?

Assessment of your bar

We will arrange to visit your premises to carry out an assessment. Assessments take place from 27 February until 7 April, between 9.00am and 5.00pm and last approximately 2 hours.

What happens if you fail your assessment?

If your premises fails its assessment, we'll work with you to help raise your operating standards. Your premises can then be re-assessed between 5 and 9 June 2017.

Spot checks

Between now and October, our managers will carry out three spot checks, and we'll give you feedback after each one. You should use this feedback to make improvements where necessary, ahead of our next visit.

Scoring your bar

When all assessments and spot checks are complete, we can then score each premises. We will do this during October. We'll score your premises Bronze, Silver or Gold, which will depend on the scores you achieved from your assessment and your spot checks visits combined.

Receiving accreditation

You will receive official accreditation for your premises at our awards evening on 21 November 2017. It will last for 12 months from the date of the awards.
