Muddy Mayhem to return in October 2017
Adventurous early birds are being invited to sign up now for the return of the North East's ultimate obstacle course, Muddy Mayhem.
Now entries are open for next year's event, which will take place on Sunday 1 October 2017.
Cllr Maria Plews, the council's cabinet member for leisure, libraries and lifelong learning, said: "Hardwick Park is one of the county's natural gems and people feel a great affection for it, voting it into the top 20 of the Keep Britain Tidy's Green Flag Awards in 2015.
"And jogging and running are two of the most effective exercises you can do to both start and stay active.
"Bringing those two things together, with some great obstacles designed by our park rangers, always ensures a great day out.
"I look forward to seeing many more people taking up the challenge next October, enjoying themselves, and working together to overcome what I'm sure will be the course's many amazing challenges."
What is Muddy Mayhem?
Muddy Mayhem began as a small 2.5km event in 2012, but has grown to become something quite unique in the obstacle course run world.
The event, which is for those aged 16 or over, draws inspiration from horse trial courses, motocross tracks, rock climbing centres, military obstacle courses and adventure playgrounds to create a 5km loop packed with over 40 man-made and natural challenges, which some runners take on twice to complete a 10K run.
Book your place now
Early bird places, which are available until the end of January, are priced the same as for this year's run - £35 for the 5K course, and £40 for the 10K.
Runners set off in waves, with the first group scheduled to begin at 10am.TextArea=Call to action 1;ActionID=11;
