Swimming lessons
This page contains information about our swimming lesson programme, aqualearn.

We are currently reviewing our aqualearn programme in line with national guidance from Swim England. Memberships will continue to be frozen until we can update you on how we can offer these sessions safely.
Your child can start swimming lessons from four years old. From birth (up to four years), we also provide sessions for you to enjoy the water with your child, and develop their water confidence.
There are seven steps for your child to work through - see Aqualearn stages and awards for more information. This is based on the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway.
Book your swimming lessons
When your child is ready to enrol, whether it's for our aqua babies and aqua tots, or our aqua kids sessions and upwards, you can apply online using the link below.
You can sign up to swimming lessons at all of Our swimming pools - for swimming lessons at Consett Leisure Centre and The Louisa Centre, see Learn to swim at Consett Leisure Centre or The Louisa Centre.
How much do swimming lessons cost?
Lessons cost £19 per month when paying monthly by direct debit, or £67 per quarter.
Our swimming lessons package includes one lesson per week, with unlimited access for your child to general and family swimming sessions, across our six pools (aquafun inflatable and splash tot sessions are not included), plus a welcome pack.
Waiting lists
Swimming lessons are currently suspended due to COVID-19. We are reviewing our programme to ensure that when lessons resume they are safe and adhere to all government guidelines. Your interest in lessons will be recorded and a member of the Aqualearn team will be in touch once our programme returns. You can register your child to the Aqualearn waiting list on our Learn to swim waiting list online form.
Please note that Consett Leisure Centre pool is currently closed.
Check your child's progress
The Learn to swim Home Portal helps you to keep track of your child's progress and competencies, either at home or on the go. You can check which awards and stages your child has completed and what skills they need to complete to achieve their next stage.
If you have more than one child enrolled on the programme you will be able to add them onto your account so that you can view all of your children's progress in one place.
If you wish to find out further information that is not available on the portal, please complete the Learn to swim Progress Request Form and your child's swim teacher will reply to you.
You can also download the Swim England Learn to Swim app as a fun way to help your child keep track of their progress.
Swimming lessons for adults
Whether you want to learn to swim or develop your swimming technique, our adult swimming lessons will help you achieve your goals. Our adult swimming lessons package includes one lesson per week, with unlimited access to public and family swimming sessions (across our six pools).
Lessons cost £23.50 per month when paying monthly by direct debit, or £80.50 per quarter.
