Background
Area Action Partnerships (AAPs) are one of the ways Durham County Council works with its communities and partner organisations to ensure local people have a say local services.
May 2009 saw the launch of the Spennymoor AAP. We have produced an area profile for the partnership to give people more detail about the partnership area and a brief history of its main settlements.

Launch
The Spennymoor AAP launch was held on 6 May 2009 (see the Spennymoor Area Action Partnership Launch page for more information).
What is an AAP Board?
The board meets at least six times a year and is made up of three distinct groupings:
- seven public representatives
- seven elected councillors (county councillors and town and parish councillors)
- seven partner representatives (police, fire, health, business, local authority, voluntary sector and social housing).
If you would like to know more about the board and view minutes of the meetings, please see the Spennymoor Area Action Partnership Board page.
