The council is generally responsible for structural repairs to council properties, and for repairs to essential supplies, such as water, gas, and electricity. This includes repairs that would otherwise be a risk to health or safety. Where the damage has been caused by the resident, they may be asked to pay for the repairs.
Reporting a repair
If you are a Durham City Homes tenant and need a repair to your council home, you can either:
- report it by using the online service
- report it by phone, Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm on free phone 0800 068 0013
- report it in person at any of the three Durham City Info - Customer Services points listed below.
Carrying out repairs
Repairs are carried out during the following times:
- Monday - Thursday 8.00am - 4.30pm
- Friday 8.00am - 1.00pm
We also offer an additional service for minor electrical, joinery, plumbing and gas repairs and gas servicing. This additional service is available between the following times:
- Wednesday 4.30pm - 7.30pm
- Thursday 4.30pm - 7.30pm
- Saturday 10.00am - 2.00pm
