Registered Trader Scheme

Our Trading Standards Service has set up the Registered Trader Scheme, in association with the County’s Community Safety Team, the police and other voluntary, public and private sector agencies. The scheme helps you to make an informed choice if you need the services of a trader. It also supports and recognises those businesses which are committed to high standards of trading.

All the businesses that have joined this scheme have been vetted by Durham Trading Standards and have completed the rigorous audit procedure to ensure that they operate in a legal, honest and fair way and all must agree to abide by our Code of Practice.

Disclaimer: please note - this is an introductory service only. All contracts entered into as a result of the scheme are strictly between the trader and the consumer. Durham County Council Trading Standards Service does not act as an agent for any trader and has no contractual liability. The inclusion of a business in the Scheme does not mean that the Trading Standards Service guarantees the quality of the goods or service provided nor can we accept any responsibility for any aspect of the work. We are also unable to guarantee the financial standing of members nor their Health and Safety procedures. The decision to use a particular business rests solely with the consumer.
