Location and Access
Barnard Castle Library was opened in 1976, it is situated off the front street between Oxfam Shop and Clinton Cards offering a wide range of services and facilities for you and your family to enjoy.There is enough space behind the library for one car for use by the disabled. The library has a passenger lift at the main entrance which gives access to the main library for use by the less able and people with prams etc.
Transport and Travel
The main bus stops are in Galgate but there are some in the Market Place. Buses from and to Darlington are the 75, 76, 70 and 77 . From and to Bishop Auckland bus numbers 8 and 88. Along with the Town Service 71 and to and from Middleton in Teesdale numbers 95 and 96 stop near to the library.There is a large carpark nearby and a fair amount of on street parking.Services at a Glance

Regular Events
- Reading Group which meets at 7.15pm on the second Tuesday of each month.
- A Family History Group which meets on monthly on a Thursday afternoon, contact the library for further details.
- We have 2 sales of discarded books per year usually May and November.
- Live in the Libraries concerts are the only other regular events usually May and October
